We Need Your Help!

Doug Robertson here...I'm the Executive Director of the High Desert Mural Festival & I'm asking for your help. The HDMF board and I have come up with some questions for you as members of our community:

  • Do you want to see more murals in Central Oregon?
  • Do you believe that art can inform & inspire community?
  • Have you ever visited a city with an amazing mural that inspired you?
  • Did you grow up wishing there was more art on buildings?
  • Do you have a favorite muralist you'd like to see grace our High Desert walls?
  • Have you ever driven past a sneaky, mellow spot in town and thought..."a mural would look great right there..."
  • Do you have $5 to put toward a good cause? Maybe more?

The High Desert Mural Festival has been working for the past two years to make murals happen in our region. Our efforts have included arduous participation in the process with the City of Bend to change our sign code to allow for large-scale murals in our community. Our mission, in addition to seeing some amazing art around town is to help enhance our local public school arts education. We've partnered with other local NPO's to raise awareness and interest in murals.  And with the help of our local art community our collective motivation and activism has helped to change the city code. In December 2016, the Maker's District in Midtown became the designated "mural zone" for Bend!

This brings us to our exciting 2017 HIGH DESERT MURAL FESTIVAL, centered in the Makers District and in partnership with the Makers District Business Association. The funds you donate will help us invigorate the minds of our community by providing art! We have several walls promised this year, and we need your help getting them painted! Each wall is roughly $1500+/- to paint, including artist fees, City of Bend permit fees, rental equipment, and insurance.

In addition to individual donations, we have a limited number of 2017 HDMF Sponsorship opportunities for businesses! Please email us for more information. The more we raise, the more art we can bring to the community! Please help us enrich the artistic expression of our region!

Thank you so much. With your help we will create some beautiful art in our community.
