On behalf of the HDMF Board I would like to thank you for considering making a donation to the High Desert Mural Festival. Your financial support allows us to continue our mission of supporting projects that enhance the public arts culture of Central Oregon. Facilitating public murals in our community & helping to foster local visual arts education remain our focus as we plan our future projects.
Years ago HDMF started working with the City of Bend staff & the now defunct Arts & Beautification Commission to amend the city's sign code to legally allow murals in Bend. In December of 2016 the Makers District "mural zone" pilot program was approved by the city council. Since December 2018, HDMF & local arts education partners have lobbied the city council on behalf of 210 local 5th graders from two elementary schools. This effort was to enable them to paint a collaborative mural on the Brookswood Ave Canal District retaining wall. On June 5th 2019 the Bend City Council approved the expansion of the "mural zone" to the entire city. This achievement increases the opportunity for access to public art & arts education in Bend. HDMF thanks everyone who helped make this possible. We are excited and ready to expand our programs! Your donation will help us continue to create more public murals & mural arts education programs in our local schools throughout Bend.
Thank you again…we couldn’t make murals happen without support like yours.
